"We had a lowkey night celebrating his 90th birthday, which was full of laughs. After dinner, we went home and ate rum cake a friend of his baked. A perfect end to the night."
PEOPLE last caught up with the actor in May 2025, where he offered an update on his health. He shared, "Making progress," then joking, "I didn't say in which direction."

Since being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2015, the father of three — who also has face blindness, or prosopagnosia, which makes it difficult for him to recognize people — says life has been a never-ending series of puzzles.
"Almost every day I’m finding a new way to do something,” he shared. “It's a little like a game. I've found whatever the little problem is, if I keep at it, I can eventually solve it, and then I feel like a million bucks. It's a way to have a good time under poor circumstances."
Alan also noted that managing his Parkinson's has "gone from a part-time job to almost a full-time job keeping track of all these little solutions. But it keeps me always looking for the funny side."
