CNN host and reporter Kaitlan Collins has reacted to Donald Trump after he blasted her in a lengthy social media tirade this weekend.

On Saturday, the news channel's Chief White House Correspondent became the latest target in the president's recent string of attacks on female journalists. In his Truth Social rant, Trump described* The Source With Kaitlan Collins* host as "stupid and nasty" after she reported on his plans for the White House ballroom renovation.

Hours later, Collins responded by reposting Trump's rant and highlighting a lapse in his memory.

"Technically, my question was about Venezuela," she wrote in a now-expired Instagram Stories post viewed by **, referencing her addressing the Trump administration's continuous bombing of alleged drug vessels off the coast of the Caribbean country.

The journalist was referring to her posing a question to Trump on Dec. 5 about his threats against Venezuela as he helped kick off the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Washington, D.C., where he received a peace prize from the organization. "Mr. President, what would you say to people who say that prize might conflict with your pledge to strike Venezuela?" she asked.

Trump answered by claiming that he has ended "eight wars and we have a ninth coming … which nobody's ever done before."

However, his Saturday diatribe seemed to reference Collins' Thursday report that the president had "clashed with the original architect" of his ballroom project and that the "size and the cost of this ballroom have ballooned." (*The New York Times* recently reported that the ballroom's cost has spiked from $200 million to $300 million, and that the president hired a new architect for the job.)

Trump's angry post, in which he misspelled Collins' name, appeared to conflate the two interactions. "Caitlin Collin's of Fake News CNN, always Stupid and Nasty, asked me why the new Ballroom was costing more money than originally thought one year ago," he wrote. "I said because it is going to be double the size, and the quality of finishes and interiors has been brought to the highest level."

Trump added that the project is now "much bigger and more beautiful than originally planned."

He also reiterated his prior claim that "there are no taxpayer dollars involved" in the project, and that "it is being fully paid for by private donations." The former *Apprentice* star ended his post with several jabs at Collins' employers.

"FAKE NEWS CNN, and the guy who runs the whole corrupt operation that owns it, is one of the worst in the business," he wrote. "Their ratings are so low that they're not even counted or relevant anymore. MAGA!!!"

His disparaging remarks about Collins come on the heels of several tense interactions between Trump and other female journalists. Back in November, when Bloomberg reporter Catherine Lucey inquired about the Epstein files, the president responded, "Quiet, piggy."

The following week, Trump called *The New York Times*' Katie Rogers "a third-rate reporter who is ugly, both inside and out."

In another instance, he lashed out at CBS News correspondent Nancy Cordes when she asked about the National Guard shooting near the White House. "Are you stupid?" Trump snapped. "Are you a stupid person?"**
