Hannah Einbinder is just as upset about *Hacks* ending as the rest of the world.
Ahead of the Emmy-winning comedy's series finale (streaming Thursday on HBO Max), Einbinder appeared at the Academy Museum in Los Angeles Wednesday for a screening and panel discussion about the episode alongside star Jean Smart, creators Paul W. Downs, Lucia Aniello, Jen Statsky, and costars Robby Hoffman and Kaitlin Olson.
“This is tough," Smart said on stage at the event, while she reached over to put her hand on Einbinder as the latter became overwhelmed with emotion and clasped her hands over her face on stage.
Einbinder then turned the moment into a comedic bit, falling to the floor in dramatic fashion as the audience laughed, while the event's moderator quipped, "Just let her have a moment."
The audience applauded while Downs and Aniello joked about the Einbinder's display.
“She’ll be okay. This happened a lot," Downs, who also plays Jimmy on the show, said. "Every day on the final season. This happened a lot. Ignore the woman on the floor!"
Aniello chimed in to joke that Einbinder collapsed "every day" on set of the fifth and final season of the beloved comedy, which debuted to rave critical and audience reviews in 2021.

Smart, who leads the project as fictional stand-up comedian Deborah Vance, ended the bit on a serious note, asking the audience, "How brilliant was she in that scene just now?"
The crowd applauded as Einbinder perked up, turning around in a comedically exaggerated pose as she smiled over the compliment from her friend and fellow star.
In a previous interview with **, the Emmy-winning stars confirmed that they didn't know how the series would end until they received the script for the series finale.

"I knew right before that, because I had heard a rumor about something that kind of disturbed me," Smart said. "So I asked, because I never wanted to ask. In six years, I never asked how the show was going to end. I wanted to be surprised, but I was kind of concerned, but then it turned out that that was not in fact the case. Although the ending that they told me they were doing was the last thing I expected, did not expect it at all. And at first I was quite taken aback. But I said, 'Okay, I trust you guys.' And I got the script and I thought it was perfect."
