Ken Paxton's family has been in the spotlight throughout his bid for U.S. Senate.
The Texas Attorney General defeated incumbent Sen. John Cornyn in the run for the Republican Senate nomination in May 2026, NBC News reported. Though the controversial politician was backed by President Donald Trump, he did not receive an endorsement from his estranged wife, Sen. Angela Paxton (née Allen), who encouraged Texas voters to support Mayes Middleton for attorney general in a post on X.
After 38 years of marriage, Angela filed for divorce from Ken on "biblical grounds" in July 2025. The former couple, who got married in 1986, share four adult children and several grandchildren.
"I believe marriage is a sacred covenant and I have earnestly pursued reconciliation," she wrote on X at the time. "But in light of recent discoveries, I do not believe that it honors God or is loving to myself, my children, or Ken to remain in the marriage."
Here's what to know about Ken Paxton's family, including his estranged wife and four kids.

They met while attending Baylor University in Texas, where Ken served as student body president and earned his bachelor's degree in psychology, per his Texas Attorney General biography and the Houston Chronicle.
According to her LinkedIn profile, Angela graduated from the university with a bachelor's degree in mathematics and computer science. She worked as a public school teacher and educator from 1991 to 2017.
The political figures wed in 1986.
They have four kids
Throughout their 38-year-long marriage, Ken and Angela welcomed four children: Tucker, Abby, Mattie and Katie.
In addition, the former pair have become grandparents. Mattie shares four children with her husband, including twins who were born in September 2024, per Angela's Instagram.
Though their kids have stayed out of the public eye, Angela shared on Facebook in November 2020 that their daughter, Abby, was a first lieutenant in the United States Air Force.

After spending over two decades in education, Angela was elected to the Texas Senate in November 2018. She assumed office in January 2019. According to her official bio, she represents District 8.
When her estranged husband faced multiple impeachment counts in 2023 — which included allegations of fraud — the senator was barred from voting in his trial, per NBC News and PBS.
Ken was later acquitted of all counts.
She filed for divorce in 2025
In July 2025, Angela announced that she had filed for divorce.
Though she wrote in a post on X that the decision was made on "biblical grounds," she accused him of adultery in a divorce filing obtained by Austin's NPR member station KUT and The New York Times.
The document also revealed that the couple haven't been living together since June 2024.
Ken has not commented on the adultery allegations, and wrote on X that he and Angela "decided to start a new chapter" in their lives "after facing pressures of countless political attacks and public scrutiny."

During Ken's 2026 run for the U.S. Senate, Mattie wrote an op-ed for Texas Scorecard defending the attacks on his "character and personal life" he faced during the campaign.
"My dad is not perfect; none of us are," his daughter wrote in her essay. "But he is a man of deep faith, genuine love for his family, and an unrelenting commitment to doing right by the people of Texas."
She added, "He doesn't fight for conservative values because it's politically convenient. He fights because he believes it with everything he has."
