While chatting with PEOPLE at the Critics Choice Awards 2026, the KPop Demon Hunters star gave an update on wedding planning

She noted it will "probably" be a destination wedding

KPop Demon Hunters star Arden Cho is preparing to walk down the aisle!

The actress, 40, announced her engagement to her fiancé, whose name she has yet to reveal publicly, in April 2025 on Instagram, sharing at the time that the romantic oceanside proposal took place on March 31 that year. Now, she's opening up about her wedding planning progress.

"We've had no time," Cho admitted to PEOPLE on Sunday, Jan. 4, at the Critics Choice Awards 2026 in Santa Monica, California.

The Teen Wolf alum shared that with her and her fiancé's busy schedules, it's been difficult to squeeze in time to plan their nuptials, but that they're finally making baby steps.

"We actually just spent the week in Italy, and so, that was so nice. We're looking for wedding venues," she said.

It will "probably" be a destination wedding, likely "somewhere in Europe or Asia," per Cho.

Cho revealed her exciting engagement news on April 8, 2025, by sharing four photos and one video from the proposal, which appears to have taken place on a beach in Maui, Hawaii, considering her "#EngagedInParadise" and "#MauiMagic" hashtags, plus the breathtaking island scenery.

While standing in a semi-circular arrangement of roses on the sand, Cho smiled as her fiancé proposed on bended knee with an oval-shaped diamond ring. She lovingly embraced her husband-to-be in the photos, and showed off her new bling.

"Spoiler alert: I said yes! 💍," Cho began her post. "Life’s wild, love is wilder. He fixes bones 🦴, I tell stories 🎬. He’s the calm to my chaos—the steady hand in my whirlwind life. Thank you for surprising me with the most magical night in my favorite place. 🌺 We found our way to forever, together. 3.31.25."

She then told her proposal story, which began with her fiancé ensuring she didn't discover her engagement ring early at the airport."Cut to: Me at the airport, low-key upset because he bailed on me to go through TSA PreCheck while I was stuck in the CLEAR line. Normally, he always wants to go together, so I was like, 'Okay, I guess I’ll see you in the lounge? 🙄, weirdo,' " Cho wrote. "Turns out, he wasn’t being weird—he was nervously smuggling a ring through security like a dorky little spy, worried I’d spot it. (I was suspicious when he texted my friend about “her surprise birthday dinner,” and now it all makes sense.)."

She continued, "I was so sure he didn’t have a ring—glad to be wrong this time. Thank you for all the efforts, from baby and my friends.. I’m a lucky gal! Bad actor, but I love him even more for it. ❤️."

Three days after announcing her engagement, Cho shared on Instagram that she and her fiancé had "already started wedding planning," and sought advice on how to choose a wedding planner.

"Still on cloud 9 🤍 thank you everyone for the love!" she wrote on April 11, 2025. "We’ve already started wedding planning.. But serious question, how do you choose your planner? We’ve had so many talented people reach out? I’ve produced so many shoots like this one with my team in Korea, I’ll definitely hand the baton over for my wedding since I’ll be filming a couple movies and be pretty busy but… I already have so many parts decided and people who want to be involved… friends who’ve been married, any advice?"
