Pop superstar Lady Gaga brought her Mayhem Ball concert to a standstill Thursday (January 29, 2026) night at the Tokyo Dome to deliver a passionate condemnation of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations.

During the penultimate show of her Japanese tour, the 14-time Grammy winner set aside her setlist to address what she described as a humanitarian crisis unfolding back home.

“I wanna take a second to talk about something that is extremely important to me, something important to people all over the world, and especially in America right now,” Lady Gaga told the packed arena.

The singer’s voice carried evident emotion as she continued. “In a couple of days, I’m gonna be heading home, and my heart is aching thinking about the people – the children, the families, all over America – who are being mercilessly targeted by ICE,” she stated to loud applause from the audience.

Lady Gaga specifically referenced the situation in Minnesota, where recent ICE operations have sparked nationwide controversy. “I’m thinking about all of their pain and how their lives are being destroyed right in front of us. I’m also thinking about Minnesota, and everyone back at home, who is living in so much fear
and searching for answers of what we all should do,” she expressed.

The “Bad Romance” hitmaker connected the issue to broader community impacts. “When entire communities lose their sense of safety and belonging, it breaks something in all of us,” she declared.

Calling for change, Lady Gaga directed her message toward leadership. “We need to get back to a place of safety and peace and accountability. Good people shouldn’t have to fight so hard and risk their lives for well-being and respect,” she told the crowd.

The artist then issued a direct appeal to policymakers. “I hope our leaders are listening; I hope you’re listening to us ask you to change your course of action swiftly and have mercy on everyone in our country,” she urged.

Following her remarks, Lady Gaga dedicated her performance of “Come to Mama” to those affected. The song, which calls for unity and compassion, took on heightened significance given her preceding statements.

The Tokyo concerts represent the final Asian dates of her globally successful Mayhem Ball tour. Lady Gaga wraps up her five-night Tokyo Dome residency on January 30 before returning to the United States for the second North American leg, beginning February 14 in Glendale, Arizona.

The singer joins other high-profile artists speaking out on immigration enforcement, including Bruce Springsteen and Billie Eilish. Her remarks come as she prepares to attend the Grammy Awards on Sunday, where she’s nominated for seven awards including Album of the Year for Mayhem.
