Linda Perry has a zero tolerance policy for Billy Corgan’s melancholy and infinite sadness.
The 4 Non Blondes singer and record producer, 61, revealed that she once kicked the Smashing Pumpkins frontman out of her studio while recording with Courtney Love because he was being a huge bummer.
“We were working on a record once when Billy Corgan came in and he was a Debbie Downer and ruining the vibe,” Perry told *NME*. “Courtney and Billy have incredible history together, but my band said, ‘We can’t continue with this guy.’ Finally, I went into the control room, looked at Billy and said: ‘You gotta go, man.’”

And she didn’t stop there.
“As Courtney’s eyes bulged, I said: 'You’re walking around like you’re God’s gift to f---ing rock ’n’ roll. You’ve got bad energy. I want you out of my studio,’” she recalled. “Billy was shocked and left.”

Perry said the interaction taught her a lot about Love. “Courtney couldn’t believe I’d kicked him out of my studio, and thought it was ballsy. Then I realized: ‘Oh, she’s a p---y!’” she said.
“Courtney acts like this tough person — and she is. She’s very intimidating, but really she is a bottom,” she continued. “She wants to be kind and wants a hug and she’s very gentle, but she has an armor she puts up.”

Perry and Love are longtime pals and collaborators, with the “In My Dreams” singer credited with co-writing and producing Love’s debut solo album *America’s Sweetheart *as well as her band Hole’s 2010 record, *Nobody’s Daughter*. Corgan also contributed to the latter album, penning several songs including “Samantha” with Love and Perry.
The “Tonight, Tonight” vocalist and Love also briefly dated back in 1991, just before she met and fell in love with her late husband Kurt Cobain. While she and Corgan ultimately went their separate ways, the pair have remained friends in the years since.
