Pixar director addresses Taylor Swift 'Toy Story 5' rumors

According to Pixar, the internet's biggest "Toy Story 5" fan theory involving Taylor Swift is not happening.

During an interview at Pixar headquarters with London-based creator Shivani Khosla, known online as @Khoslaa, "Toy Story 5" director Andrew Stanton, co-director McKenna Harris and producer Lindsey Collins all addressed online speculation surrounding Swift and the upcoming sequel.

"It surprised us. What a freakin' honor," Stanton said of the rumors.

"It would be pretty amazing," Collins added, emphasizing the "would" to show it isn't currently a part of the plan.

Then Stanton specifically said Swift is not performing film's ending song.

"The sad truth is we watched the movie being mixed last week and the song on the end was not Taylor Swift," he said.

The conversation comes after Swift's official website briefly displayed a mysterious countdown April 30 featuring unmistakable "Toy Story"-style blue skies and white clouds. The font also appeared in a bright yellow shade reminiscent of the franchise branding, which immediately fueled theories about a possible collaboration to the animated film that arrives in theaters June 19, 2026. The same day marks the 20th anniversary of Swift's debut single, "Tim McGraw."

Swift's team did not respond for comment regarding why the countdown appeared for ten minutes on her site.

A future collaboration between Swift and Pixar would make sense given the singer's existing relationship with The Walt Disney Company. Disney+ became the streaming home for her concert films "Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version)" and "Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour | The Final Show," along with her 2020 documentary "Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions."

Swift also partnered with the platform for a six-part Eras Tour docuseries featuring behind-the-scenes footage, rehearsals and interviews with Swift, her mother Andrea Swift and fiancé Travis Kelce that pulled back the curtain on the tour's record-breaking global run. However, the "Toy Story 5" rumors, specifically about an ending song, now appear to be false.
