Princess Charlotte is taking after Kate Middleton when it comes to playing the piano.

The Princess of Wales revealed as much during a 2023 charity concert at Royal Albert Hall.

Kate is a lifelong piano player herself and even performed at her annual carol service in 2021.

Princess Charlotte has long been considered Kate Middleton's mini-me, and though that label is typically used in reference to their outfits, it apparently extends to their musical talents, too. Indeed, according to pianist Lang Lang, the newly minted 11-year-old has taken up piano. Her mother is, of course, a lifelong piano player herself.

"We talked about Charlotte. Her royal highness talked about Charlotte's piano playing, I'm sure she's good,” Lang told Hello!. “Her royal highness said to me that she said to Princess Charlotte, 'Hey, look, if you practice a lot you can be like him'.”

Lang spoke to the publication after a special performance at Royal Albert Hall for a 2023 fundraiser benefitting the Royal Variety Charity. The evening featured performances from many musicians, including Lang, who played alongside 13-year-old Lucy, a blind and autistic musician. Lucy won The Piano, a musical competition show, on which Lang is a judge.

"Her royal highness was asking me about how long we were practicing together, and how we discovered Lucy,” Lang told the outlet. "We were talking about how we found her in Leeds Train Station, and how everything happened magically and how I'm so happy to play with her."

As mentioned, Kate is a gifted musician herself and has tickled the ivories at several public appearances, including her annual Christmas carol service. The future queen first learned to play as a young girl and spent a lot of time on the bench during the COVID-19 pandemic, though she didn't publicly debut her skills until 2021.

"Music was very important to the [then] Duchess during the lockdowns," a source previously told People. "She also recognizes the powerful way in which music brings people together—especially during difficult times. For these reasons, she was keen to be part of [musician Tom Walker's 2021 "Together at Christmas" performance] in this way."
