Ronaldo, Ronaldinho perform with Madonna in World Cup halftime show

The 2026 World Cuphalftime show was chock full of stars from off the pitch, but on it, too.

Madonna, BTS, Shakira and Justin Bieber had already been announced as the headliners of the World Cup's first ever halftime show between action in the final match on Sunday, July 19. But football traditionalists who were annoyed at the idea of the very American festivity might have cracked a smile when they saw two legends open the show with Madonna.

Ronaldo drove a dune buggy with Ronaldinho in the passenger's seat while Madonna performed her hit song "Music" sitting in the back with a group of dancers hanging off the side of the car. R9 drove the buggy out of the tunnel onto the pitch at MetLife Stadium where the three of them got off of the car and held their hands up to the crowd.

Ronaldo and Ronaldinho wore matching blue and yellow tracksuits with their names on the back.

The Brazil legends won the 2002 World Cup together. Ronaldo, not to be confused with Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo, also won the 1994 title in the United States with the Seleção.

The World Cup halftime show also featured BTS performing "Dynamite," Shakira and Burna Boy giving a rendition of their World Cup anthem "Dai Dai," the Muppets performing "Seven Nation Army" with Gustavo Dudamel and Jason Sudeikis showing up as Ted Lasso to bring on Justin Bieber as a substitution.
