Margot Robbie is just the latest to borrow a bauble from Elizabeth Taylor's jewelry box.

Taylor, who died at age 79 in 2011, was almost as well-known for her unbelievable collection of precious jewelry (which sold for $131 million after her death) as she was for her acting career, violet eyes, and yes, many husbands. (Quite a few of her best sparklers were engagement rings!) Her great love Richard Burton, especially, loved to surprise her with knockout gifts with a staggeringly high carat count.

So for a celebrity who wants a certain amount of sparkle, whose collection is better to draw from than "La Liz"? Margot Robbie is the most recent to step out in a piece from the star's iconic collection. Look back at the best bling.

Richard Burton bought this Bulgari emerald pendant (with its 23-carat center stone) and matching necklace as an engagement present for Taylor, and Bulgari bought them both back for $12 million. Julianne Moore got to borrow the bling for the jeweler's exhibition of Taylor's jewels in 2013.

Kim Kardashian in Diamond Chandeliers

Kim Kardashian has made no secret of her admiration for Taylor, even getting to interview the legendary actress for Harper's Bazaar in 2011, prior to her death.

“You are my idol. But I’m six husbands and some big jewels behind,” Kardashian said, to which Taylor responded, "I never planned to acquire a lot of jewels or a lot of husbands. For me, life happened, just as it does for anyone else.”

In 2024, Kardashian announced plans to produce and star in a docuseries about Taylor, and got a head start by sporting a favorite piece of hers, these diamond chandelier earrings, on the Balenciaga runway in 2025. (Jeweler Lorraine Schwartz loaned them to Kardashian for the occasion, but Kardashian has a private collection of Taylor's jewelry of her own.)

This particular pair was a gift to Taylor from husband Mike Todd. In her book My Love Affair with Jewelry, Taylor recalled picking them out while window shopping in Paris, falling in love with them even though they were made from fake diamonds. Todd surprised her by replacing the costume stones with real ones — and upon discovering that, "we were a bit late for the party...” she joked, according to W.

"The only word Elizabeth knows in Italian is “Bulgari,' " Burton once joked. Can you blame her? She sported this sapphire sautoir for her 40th birthday in Budapest in 1972, and Jessica Chastain got to try it out for a Cannes red carpet in 2013.

For a Vogue photoshoot in which she portrayed a jewel thief, Blake Lively got to don one of Taylor's favorite pieces, a $3.8 million Cartier diamond-and-ruby necklace that can also be worn as a tiara, and which was also a gift from Todd.

Memorably, Todd surprised Taylor while she was in the pool swimming laps at their vacation home in the French Riviera. He presented her with the rubies, which she put on, "shrieked with joy, put my arms around Mike’s neck, and pulled him into the pool after me," she said in her memoir, per Vogue.

What better to wear for the L.A. premiere of a movie about a toxic but passionate relationship than the Cartier "Taj Mahal" pendant gifted to Taylor by Burton? Burton presented it to his bride at her 40th birthday party in Budapest, and she wore it for decades. It sold for $8 million at auction, though was involved in a legal dispute after.

According to a press release from Taylor's estate, "The pendant's surface bears an inscription in Parsee that reads, 'Love is Everlasting,' along with the name of Nur Jahan, the first woman to receive the jewel as a gift from her husband, Mughal Emperor, Shah Jahangir. The diamond was then passed down to their son, Shah Jahan, who gifted it to his most adored wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Four years later, when she died, the emperor commissioned the iconic Taj Mahal mausoleum as a tribute to her. The monument inspired the naming of the diamond, which found its way to Elizabeth and Richard."

"This necklace and the diamond itself has a pretty incredible history and feels like a very romantic history," Robbie said on the red carpet.
