During the podcast, he also spoke about how the season 10 reunion went and reacted to Ciara Miller claiming he's only dating Batula "to spite me"

On May 21, Miller told PEOPLE she's focused on "survival" and is "so excited to move on from this"

West Wilson is sharing rare insight into his relationship with Amanda Batula ahead of the Summer House reunion airing on Bravo.

On the Monday, May 25 episode of his podcast, Show Me Something, the reality star was asked by his co-host, WNBA star Sophie Cunningham, how he and Batula, 34, are doing as they continue to face scrutiny over their relationship, which they revealed in late March after weeks of speculation.

Wilson, 31, said he and Batula are "doing our best," but he admitted, "Going out in public is kinda scary."

The backlash to their relationship was a result of both of their previous relationships — Batula separated from her husband of four years, Kyle Cooke, in January, while Wilson had rekindled his romance with Ciara Miller during the summer —as well as their dishonesty. Wilson denied there was anything romantic going on with Batula on Watch What Happens Livewith Andy Cohen just days before they confirmed their relationship.

"I really, really, really regret the lying part of it," Wilson said on his podcast. "Because now it's like, no matter what happens or what I say I have not a lot of ground to stand on."

He and Batula face major heat from their castmates at the Summer House season 10 reunion, which will air in three parts, beginning Tuesday, May 26. "I was, like, just kind of a deer in the headlights for a lot of it," Wilson said of the reunion, which was filmed on April 23.

In the teaser, Miller, 30, claimed that her ex is only dating Batula "to spite me." Cunningham asked her co-host to respond to that claim in particular, and he said, "That one, I don't even remember what I said. I think I was like, why would I... Why is that something I would ever do?" he said. "Obviously not the case."

At the amfAR Gala red carpet in Cannes on May 21, Miller spoke to PEOPLE and said "survival" is what's on her mind as the reunion's premiere nears. She said she's ready to "make it to the airing and make it to the end of all of this."

"I'm excited to put it all behind me. The reunion was quite the day, but we're on to bigger and better, and we can say goodbye to certain things," she said. "I think it will definitely give some clarity. I think it was very cathartic. It's one of those situations that's unfortunate, but I'm so excited to move on from this."

She continued, "It's nice to go into the next chapter of my life and have clarity on who's supposed to be there and who's not."

When asked if her and Batula's friendship is over for good, Miller said, "Yeah, for sure. I wouldn't do this to my worst enemy."

In an Instagram message shared April 10, Batula said she was "truly sorry to everyone I've disappointed and hurt, especially those I know personally who I've reached out to individually." At the time, she added that she "will be addressing any and all questions honestly and directly" at the show's reunion.

Part 1 of the Summer House season 10 reunion premieres May 26 at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.
